India's Squad for South Africa Test Series Announced without Yuvraj Again

by Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

The Indian selectors did not want to perhaps keep the suspense lingering too long, which is why they announced India's squad for the Test series against South Africa while revealing the team for the ODI series against New Zealand.

Yuvraj Singh will be bidding his Test career goodbye very quickly unless he does something of the extraordinary and prays for Suresh Raina to suffer a hiccup in his still short Test career that has seen him quickly displace Yuvraj from the scene. It will not be easy because the Indian selectors have found it harder to ignore the growing stature of Cheteshwar Pujara in domestic cricket and his impressive debut against Australia.

The rest of the line up leaves little wonders apart from the fact that India are going to South Africa with five fast bowlers to back up Zaheer Khan who will be coming back from a groin injury and plausibly to cover for Ishant Sharma and Sreesanth as well. Jaidev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav have earned their plane ride as has Wriddhiman Saha as the back up wicket keeper to the Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Indian Test squad for South Africa:
MS Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, M Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha, Umesh Yadav, Jaidev Unadkat, Pragyan Ojha
