NZ's ODI Squad for India Will See Injured Ryder Replaced by James Franklin

by Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

New Zealand announced their squad for the ODI series against India following the India New Zealand Tests series. But they have lost a key member of the squad to injury, necessitating arranging for his replacement.

New Zealand have had to tweak their squad since the announcement to replace Jesse Ryder with James Franklin after the former was carrying a calf injury since the India New Zealand Test series that had worsened over time.

New Zealand will have their best opportunity of once more preparing themselves for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 set in the Indian sub continent, particularly after the disaster was their ODI series against Bangladesh. In that the selectors have more or less kept faith in the squad that toured Bangladesh, hoping that they will come good after writing off the troubled results as a one off.

New Zealand’s Squad for India ODI series:
Daniel Vettori (captain), Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill, Gareth Hopkins, Jamie How, Brendon McCullum (wicket keeper), Nathan McCullum, Andy McKay, Kyle Mills, Jesse Ryder, Tim Southee, Scott Styris, Ross Taylor, Daryl Tuffey, Kane Williamson
