Don’t cricketers live by the sword and die by it? It would appear so in the case of Herschelle Gibbs.
Nothing about Gibbs would be shocking. Or so one thought. Until he launched his autobiography. And like his cricket, Gibbs does not hold back nor does he indulge in beginning on a clean sheet, of paper that is. (If the person reading this was thinking something else, suffice it to say, it says a lot about what they are thinking.)
But Herschelle Gibbs is not as block headed as some of his team mates would like to have the world believe. He is shrewd, smart and smacking his lips at the prospect of the reception his book as received. And contrary to those that think that Gibbs’ slander will not work, they are wrong because the world of publishing does not revolve around the literary sense but rather on the ability of the pen to thrash-write ( that may be a new term ). What this basically entails is the ability to spin a yarn but do it with such pizzazz and captivation that it would be hard to peel away the truth from the fantasy.

The truth or otherwise of Herschelle Gibbs’ autobiography “To The Point” will take its time and if there is a grain of truth to it, given the manner in which the British tabloids have trained their gunned on the Pakistan cricketers and Pakistan cricket, undoubtedly it will all spew out. If it all lies, Gibbs is still in the news because someone who feels indignation is bound to speak up and in that it keeps Gibbs in the limelight even if only as a reference to context.
The latter is a sad perception and scenario because Gibbs, in an ideal world, should be remembered for his remarkable stroke making ability with the effortless ease that defies experts.
